Google Ads von Kriminellen missbraucht

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 22:15
under Allgemein, Google News

Fark's copyright policy stinks

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 20:52

Cory Doctorow: Fark -- home to many photo-mashup contests -- has a new (?) copyright policy: everyone who posts to Fark agrees to assign all copyright in their work to Fark (Fark then gives the posters back the right to use their work on personal projects, but not to allow anyone else to ever use their work). The clause is really dumb. It's clear that Fark just wants to be sure they're allowed to, for example, publish books of the entries in Fark contests and to make sure that they're allowed to put ads alongside user submissions. Not altogether ridiculous. But there are much better ways of accomplishing this than simply grabbing all the copyright to farkers' submissions. For example, Fark could ask submitters to release their submissions into the public d[...]

What’s in the Toolbox?

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 19:44

Everyone in any industry or career has a set of tools they use to do their job. My job is a little odd in that I have my hands in development as well as systems. A developer can say I use these sets of tools while a sysadmin has different needs. I have them all. So, [...]

A Different Kind of Courage

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 19:00

By Charles Taylor Radical Hope: Ethics in the Face of Cultural Devastation by Jonathan Lear Radical Hope is first of all an analysis of what is involved when a culture dies. This has been the fate of many aboriginal peoples in the last couple of centuries. Jonathan Lear takes as the main subject of his study the Crow tribe of the western US, who were more or less pressured to give up their hunting way of life and enter a reservation near the end of the nineteenth century.

My Feedburner feedcounter chiclet

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 18:15

I saw this list of the top 40 English blogs according to Feedburner and then I saw Lee’s list of SEO blogs and I just wanted to check on something. Cool. Historically I’ve sort of anti-promoted my site (no digg or “add to Google Reader” buttons). I figure that webmasters eventually hear of my blog [...]

New Clue Unit Podcast & Contest

Blogged at 26. Apr 2007 17:39

I’ve been working with Lee and Chris the last few months to create The Clue Unit podcast. Our latest episode has been posted, and this time we focus on co-creation. (click here to listen - MP3) (click here to subscribe to this feed) Since we were talking about co-creation, we’d be remiss if we didn’t call out one [...]
