That's how Oliver Willis says he sees it. (Via Memeorandum.) I say "says" because I don't think Oliver really thinks O'Reilly went insane. I've seen this lefty meme before -- aimed at me last week. Anger = insanity. In this O'Reilly clip, we see a debate where O'Reilly is in his zone. He's outraged about the death of a little girl and illegal immigration is involved. And his interlocutor is Geraldo Rivera, who isn't going to cower and act submissive. He's going to hold his own and he does. O'Reilly knows he can roll out his righteous anger in a grandly theatrical way and he does.It thoroughly serves his purposes. Look at the free promotion we're giving his show.By the same token, Oliver Willis is serving his purposes by saying things like:This is the leading [...]

Continuing the debate started yesterday about the post on Right Angle Blog about Jennifer Brunner' son. Here is what I said in yesterday's WMD Blast:Would I have run something like that on WMD? I'd like to think not, but I will admit that I would have been tempted to link to it. Is the kid out of bounds? According to his profile, the college student is a member of Brunner's "advance team" whatever that is...and as such, I'd think he is on the political stage and an appropriate person of interest. Near as I can tell, this one is okay...but I really think the center-right is better than this sort of thing. There are plenty of things to point out about Brunner (and I suppose the point in pointing this profile out is to show Brunner's parenting skills - I guess[...]

So yesterday the wifey and I changed up the pace by checking out a movie…on a weeknight. Yeah I know we’re rebels. But we decided to check out Blades of Glory which was definitely a preview that my wifey and I saw while we went another movie a while ago. Speaking of previews they are [...]

Pastafarian, Bryan Killian, was suspended from school because of his religious attire in North Buncombe, North Carolina. Apparently the school warned him repeatedly to not wear the clothing to school, yet Killian persisted, remaining true to his faith. Read more below the fold.Okay, for those that don't know (can there be anyone that doesn't?), Pastafarianism is the religion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Its adherents believe that the world was created by a touch from his Noodly Appendage and that it is the worldwide decline in the pirate population which has directly contributed to global warming.Pastafarianism and the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster are a farce. No doubt about it. But I find the introduction of it to be hilariously problematic fo[...]

SBQ was suggested by Heather:"How do you decide which stitching blogs are worth repeat and/or regular viewings? Are there certain things you look for in particular? Are there things you wish there were more of? Less of? Is your blog a good example of what you like to read?"I have some that I frequent more than others. Could be what they are talking about, could be my mood. Sometimes I want more personal things, other times I want to just stick to crafts. I guess I like blogs that have lots of subjects.Learn what makes people tick. I have learned so much about other countries, holidays, etc. Watching things progress is so nice. I have witnessed how to make things that I didn't even know existed. Reading blogs is part of that got me ready to try knitting. You c[...]

I’ve been growing quite interested in the debate that’s currently taking place about the possibility of a new ‘code of blogging conduct’. The calls for internal regulation of the blogosphere have come about after Kathy Sierra, who I think is a technology blogger, has been the subject of ‘cyber-bullying’. The poor woman has received death [...]

As mentioned below, I downloaded Alex King’s Twitter Tools WordPress plugin earlier today. The intention was to try and get it to work with the Sideblog plugin. And it does! I created a category called “Asides”, told Sideblog and the Twitter Tools to use that category and then told Twitter Tools to [...]

In order to begin a relationship with a reader, you need to get them to your blog. One of the most powerful methods of attracting new readers is by publishing a popular post. A popular post is one that attracts attention and gets people talking about it because it: Is well written and easy to read. Incites thought. Incites [...]
