CTIA

Blogged From at 27. Mar 2007 18:25 under Wireless, 3g, ctia, gsm, mobile, wireless

I am at CTIA this year and have my usual set of meetings followed by meetings. Thankfully I have some space on my schedule today as I am not booked as solid as usual. I have some time to see some exhibits and get an idea of what is really exciting. The event seems pretty big – perhaps as big as Vegas and the attendance is unknown so far. Our booth is in the back right at number 4782. Come by and visit if you have time. PS: The Internet access is very slow for me so you may not hear from me for a while. I spent a few minutes on Wikipedia today searching for information on Norway. I wanted to learn more about this country I had never been to and while searching I discovered the country is a Kingdom in fact and was settled about 12,000 years ago. I really got into learning about Norway until a coworker told me that Wikipedia is about as accurate as the water cooler gossip you might hear at work. Ever curious I asked for details and was told about a recent fiasco regarding comedian Sinbad who was inaccurately portrayed as dead on the site. If you don’t remember, Sinbad appeared in – well I can’t recall either. Perhaps he had a TV show or something. I may have even laughed at his jokes back in the day. But wait a minute – how did I[...]

Wish We Were There

Blogged From at 20. Mar 2007 05:33 under weather

For years my Uncle Norm has been enjoying the fact that "his" California weather was so much better than "our" North Eastern weather.  Despite having been a Californian for over a decade now, I still think of it as our North Eastern weather.  It sucks, but it is ours.  Well today in the newspaper I got to see a classic piece of California weather hubris.  I guess this is where the indoctrination begins. SXSW Interactive: Brian Fling Discusses Mobile Web

Blogged From Brett Roegiers at 14. Mar 2007 20:21 under Festivals

Brian Fling of Blue Flavor * gave a presentation Sunday afternoon detailing both the why and the how of developing for the mobile Web. Hopefully soon everyone realizes the importance of reaching audiences across any medium. Making information accessible via Internet-ready mobile devices has become increasingly important. Everything You Always Wanted to Know About the Mobile Web...but Were Afraid to Ask emphasized finding a need, filling it and getting rid of anything extra. Navigation should be effortless (ordered lists with access keys); nothing hidden behind too many clicks. Most of the considerations hold true regardless of the platform in mind. But mobile devices present some unique obstacles, like varying screen sizes and more than 50 browsers. The co[...]
