Unfortunately we are fighting an ideology that continues to grow exponentially infecting a wider audience daily and our use of traditional military strength and violence in our attempts to contain it do nothing but fan the flames.

I don’t side with Galloway by any means but do with the foundation of his argument which is that death and terror are available in mass on both sides of the Israel - Hezbollah conflict and that western media inherently advocates westernized nations.

This is a fun Idea. WhereIsHere.net, when it is finished, will allow you to take a picture of a sign or written material with a camera phone, upload it to the site (with the specifications of what language you wanted translated to) and let the WhereIsHere community take a crack. I would hope that when it is a completed the translated message would then be delivered to your phone by SMS or WapPush. Its a a sort of social networking version of the technology that Neven Vision, the company recently acquired by Google, demonstrated last January. Provided this has a large enough community it could really take off. Technorati Tags: google, neven vision, signs, whereishere, wppush

Did this one slip through the mobile blogging radar or was I just sleeping, I know I did not receive the memo.. Apparently, one of my most favorite and cherished applications on my phone (probably one of the to 5 apps used on my phone and the reason I bought a Symbian phone) Shozu has added some new uploading capability to their service. For those of you that do not know what Shozu is a totally free application that you put on your phone that allows you to immediately, via a data connection, upload your photos and video's to your favorite media social networking site like, for example, Flickr. The app also allows you to add captions and tags (both automatically and manually), view comments people have made about your pictures on your phone as well as send[...]

Looks like Nokia's Loudeye acquisition as well as the debut of the N91 music phone has got some people thinking that Apple will now dive full into the IPhone as a result. Analysts say that Apple may now be forced to offer iTunes to other companies under license, although initial attempts by its boss Steve Jobs to work with mobile phone manufacturer Motorola were inconclusive. "The Mac maker could form a joint venture with a telecom specialist to construct the guts of an iPhone while maintaining strict control over the device's software and design," said The Motley Fool, a financial information site. Wall Street has speculated for months about the possible marriage of the iPod with a cellphone. Citigroup and UBS predict its birth in the first half of 20[...]

MocoNews reports that search giant Google has acquired Santa Monica-based mobile photo-recognition software firm Neven Vision. Old MOPocket readers will remember that Neven Visions technology was the first blogpost ever here on MOpocket in which I said... But perhaps the coolest feature that Neven Vision is developing along these lines is an object recognition and visual search technology called i-SCOUT that Neven himself describes as “a visual google. The image recognition algorithms can recognize anything from an ipod to a picture of the Mona Lisa to the flower in the above picture. Link this to a database of images and you have yourself a pretty nifty search platform for anyone sporting a camera phone. So, now we have to wonder... what is Google [...]
