From the Daily Star (Lebanon):We can thank the US speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, for having informed Syrian President Bashar Assad, from Beirut , that "the road to solving Lebanon 's problems passes through Damascus." Now, of course, all we need to do is remind Pelosi that the spirit and letter of successive United Nations Security Council resolutions, as well as Saudi and Egyptian efforts in recent weeks, have been destined to ensure precisely the opposite: that Syria end its meddling in Lebanese affairs. Pelosi embarked on a fool's errand to Damascus this week, and among the issues she said she would raise with Assad - when she wasn't on the Lady Hester Stanhope tour in the capital of imprisoned dissidents Aref Dalila, Michel Kilo, and Anwar Bunni - i[...]

Zahle is one of the biggest Christian cities in the North and in Lebanon as a whole, and faced one of the fiercest military and political battles between the Lebanese Forces led by Bashir Gemayel and the Syrian troops. The Lebanese Forces even though outnumbered managed to resist and keep the Syrians out. The fighters from [...]

In the late 1940s, Walther (Walter) Rauff, an SS officer [...]

Looking back in time we had a distinguished career and member of our United States military tell us before Congress and the United Nations that Iraq was more than capable of weapons of mass destruction and that was none other than the former Secretary of State Collin Powell. He isn’t on the political scene anymore because in his own heart he knew that the lie he was given to tell was propaganda and he left to spend more time with his family. Smart move General. How can we trust the President and any staged events to present any source of information when it comes to the war in Iraq? If the administration lied us into the war and lied about the weapons of mass destruction that never existed are we to believe that Iran is now the enemy of America too? Give me[...]

With agony comes anger and with anger the want for retaliation. This fledging democracy once had TGIFriday’s, outdoor cafes, discos and pop charts. We’ve successfully destroyed all that and in place left only the ever growing demonizing of the west and idolization of fundamentalist Muslims and terrorist groups like Hezbollah.
