“…The national tonic. The revival of hope. The restorer of confidence.” Yes, after a wonderful Easter brunch, I went to the Red Sox/Rangers game. The Sox had lost the last two against the Rangers, but this would be special: I would be there!! David Ortiz got us started with a HR, but the Rangers came [...]

Remember - they've taken the pseudoephedrine out of it, so it won't be as effective. I miss old Nyquil!

As part of rescuing my old blog from the garbage bin — not something I’m sure is a good idea, by the way — I found this list of 100 things about Troutgirl from January 2003. Not too much of import has changed since then: the knitting group is no more, the Stealthmobile’s [...]

I was, as I kept telling people, a cooking fool this weekend. I baked a New York-style cheesecake yesterday (with a hint of lemon and orange) before getting dinner ready for Meredith and Stina today. Since both are from out of town, and therefore wouldn’t be able to spend the day with their families, I [...]

This being Easter, a lot of Christians are thinking about Jesus and spiritual awakening but I can't seem to get Abbie Hoffman off my mind. I can't claim that he was great friend but I miss him nonetheless. I came to know him when I was on his legal defense team during what we called at the time, CIA on Trial. You may remember that case, when he and Amy Carter were arrested at UMASS-Amherst for protesting Iran-Contra. I had only recently joined the firm and was rather impressed with our high profile client. We spent a fair amount of time hanging around the office after hours, trading stories about the 60s and I was quite taken in by his charm. Although I declined an invitation to "inspect" his hotel room, I did end up literally buying the shirt off his back f[...]

I was reading LiewCF’s post over at Chitika.com blog where he shares his experience quitting his nine-to-five job in August 2005 and became the first Malaysian professional blogger. I don’t know if he’s really the first as he claimed to be but he was certainly the most visible full-time blogger in the local blogosphere at [...]
